Courses
West Cornwall
West Cornwall Golf Club is one of the finest links courses in Cornwall. The course was established in 1889, making it the oldest golf club in the Duchy and one that has won much acclaim. Peter Alliss is an honorary life member who always speaks very highly of the course and the warm welcome all can expect to receive. The course has a magnificent setting and has been moulded around the natural contours of the sand dunes that form part of the Hayle Estuary and Porth Kidney Sands. There are panoramic views from almost every hole with St. Ives Bay and Godrevy Lighthouse forming a memorable backdrop to this gem of a links. West Cornwall is nearly always played in conditions that can range from a light breeze to a strong wind and is a true test of golf for golfers of all abilities.
Perranporth
Perranporth Golf Club, situated on the beautiful North Coast of Cornwall, offers some of the finest links golf in the South West of England. Boasting a challenging and well-maintained championship golf course as well as breathtaking views up and down the coast, a visit to Perranporth Golf Club is sure to be a memorable one. Taking advantage of the natural contours of the landscape means that James Braid, course designer, was successful in creating each hole with its own individual demands and character. Not only this, but the greens which are fast and absolutely true have a reputation for being amongst the best in the South West. At 6296 yards this exciting par 72 is a challenge for both high and low handicappers. It is a course you will want to return to play time and time again.
Falmouth
Under new ownership since July 2004, Falmouth Golf Club occupies a truly spectacular site about one mile from the bustling port of Falmouth. This well-established par 71 winds its way along the cliff tops with stunning views across Falmouth Bay. By popular demand, the new owner has made changes to the golf course to make it fairer for the average golfer, while still challenging for golfers at all levels. The fairways have been cut wider, adjacent areas of rough have been thinned out and some internal out-of-bounds has been abolished. The greens remain arguably the best in Cornwall and the South West.
Mullion
Just a few miles from the most Southerly point on the British mainland, Mullion Golf Course epitomises the best of playing golf in Cornwall. The far reaching views from the holes on the Towans above the cliffs are magnificent. From the Towans, the course descends to the links holes by the beach and Gunwalloe Church before a testing uphill par 5. The following stunning hole once more descends downhill towards the beach. Although just over six thousand yards off the white tees, do not be deceived, the course is a challenge. As with most coastal courses, the wind is a significant factor and accurate shot making is needed. With possibly the best greens in Cornwall which are in excellent playing condition all year round you can be assured of a testing putt! However, any frustrations immediately fade away with the beauty of your surroundings. Be calm, the next shot will save the day!
Tehidy Park
Founded in 1922, Tehidy Park Golf Club is a parkland golf course that provides a challenge for golfers of all abilities. Its mature tree-lined fairways coupled with strategically placed water hazards place a premium on accuracy. The course is neat and tidy, picturesque and challenging with many holes featuring tree-lined fairways. It’s a gently undulating layout but relatively easy-walking. Expect a warm welcome at this friendly Cornish venue and enjoy a drink after your round in comfortable surroundings.
