China Fleet Golf & Country Club is a great base for your golf break, on site there are plenty of activities to keep you entertained away from the fairways and if you want some night life you are just a short drive from the City of Plymouth.
Championship courses St.Mellion and China Fleet and parkland Stover allow you to experience something different each day you play. Based in Saltash and only a 15 minute drive from Plymouth, China Fleet Golf & Country Club is in a great location for a stay and play golf break. It boasts an impressive 18 hole parkland golf course designed by Dr Martin Grant Hawtree. located amongst 180 acres of beautiful Cornish Countryside along the River Tamar. Guests can also take advantage of the superb leisure facilities on site and enjoy an excellent choice of dining. China Fleet
China Fleet Country Club is a superb 18 hole, parkland golf course designed by Dr Martin Grant Hawtree, located amongst 180 acres of beautiful Cornish Countryside along the River Tamar. At 6551 yards, the course is fairly long compared to some other courses in the county, and as it is situated right on the banks of the River Tamar there are some interesting holes that stay in the memory. It is quite tight, with several holes requiring accurate tee shots to hit the lush fairways. The 14th & 16th holes across water are quite a test of nerve from the tee. China Fleet has played host to the EuroPro tour in the past, which is a testimony to the quality of the layout..
St Mellion -The Nicklaus Course
Opened for play in 1988 The Nicklaus Signature Golf Course is amongst the finest golf courses in Europe and certainly one of the most famous. The course was also the first European course personally designed by Jack Nicklaus. The course opended to rave reviews with Nicklaus himself being quoted "I knew it was going to be good but not this good". It was certainly good enough to host the Benson & Hedges International Open for six years from 1990 until 1995 with Olazabal, Langer and Ballesteros amongst the winners.
Stover
The peace and tranquillity of Stover Golf Club, located on the edge of Newton Abbot is a convenient treat for golfers in the south west, with easy access from the A38 and M5. The course is one of the best parkland courses in the south west.
The beautiful parkland golf course features a wide variety of holes, elevation change, mature trees, streams and picturesque ponds. This 18 hole 5959 yards course off the back tees consists of two loops of nine holes which both come back to the clubhouse. The course design was influenced by "5 times Open Champion - James Braid" and provides easy walking, narrow tree lined fairways but contains subtly contoured greens that present a fair but challenging test of golf for all enthusiasts.
Accommodation
China Fleet
The facilities at the 4 Star China Fleet Country Club are excellent. The accommodation consists of a range of apartments and bungalows. The leisure and recreation facilities include a swimming pool with flume, Jacuzzi, steam room, fitness suite and racquet sports The swimming pool and Aqua Spa are free for all guests. The pool is set under a glass & timber roof and includes a shallow walk-in beach…..some of the other fun features include water cannon and a large indoor flume, as well as lane swimming.
For après-golf activities, the club also has a brasserie and of course a bar. In addition, the award-winning Upper Deck Bistro provides more formal surroundings in which to eat.
