Course
Yelverton Golf Club is a delightful and challenging moorland course, designed between the wars by Herbert Fowler, who used the old mine workings as natural hazards to challenge golfers of all standards. It has outstanding views across Dartmoor and over Cornwall and is a very natural course, with Dartmoor ponies and cattle sharing the fairways. The course has played host to many top competitions, including the English Seniors Championships. It was here that Henry Longhurst first tried his hand at golf!
The course generally follows a traditional out and back layout with a loop at the end. Although the fairways are generous and the rough minimal, the gorse bushes await an errant shot and when the conditions are dry, making the ball stop is far harder than making it go!
